Plug-ins are not saying After FX isn’t good enough. Plugins are not trying to laugh into After Effects‘ face nor bring it down, they’re just trying to help. Not that the almighty After Effects needs any help, but just in case. Plugins try to make your life easier by creating some custom effects that do the job for you. You could probably do the same effects with Adobe’s product, but it would definitely require more time and skill from your part. And besides, some plugins can achieve pretty extraordinary results in just a couple of minutes. So as long as they remember that without After Effects, plugins would just be … standalones, everything will be okay.

And of course there are plugins and then there are … plugins. Some are worth the extra buck and some are not. And again, after years of detective work and a couple of lengthy expeditions to Pluginland i managed to craft a list of the Best After Effects Plugins. Did I waste all that time for nothing? You tell me !

Yes sir, you guessed it. The title pretty much gave it away. I have spent days, weeks, months even in search of the best tutorials out there. Well no, not months, but i did spend some time watching all those boring and useless tutorials just so that you won’t have to. This way you get to watch only the ones that are worth it. I have put together a best-of collection of the…yap.. best… tutorials and the places to find them.

But watch out, this is not a ‘Top 50 After Effects tutorials that help you survive in the wild’ or a ‘Best 36.3 Tutorials that God watches’ . It’s a numberless collection of the best places to get educated in After Effects with some of the best tutorials I could find as examples. The page will change with time if i stumble across or if you guys let me know of better places or tutorials.

So go ahead and check out the Tutorials page and don’t forget to comment or contact me if you know something I don’t. I won’t mind. Really. I won’t.

On AdobeAfterFX.com there’s a whole section dedicated to the effects in After Effects. Yes, i know, nice wordplay. Maybe one day there will be a whole after section for After Effects. But till then the effects will have to do.

The effects’ descriptions and images are taken from the Adobe site, more specifically from here and are licensed for use under the terms of the Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial 3.0 License that you’ll find here. So what I’m saying is they’re not mine! Is that clear enough? They’re not mine, they’re Adobe’s. You can use them too, modify them as well (like I did) but specify where they came from. Not from here, not this site, but from Adobe. Still don’t get it? Look here and you’ll understand.

The effects have been rearranged a bit so that every effect has an image associated with it making it easier to use as a quick reference. I’m looking forward to your comments and questions regarding the effects.
